Expanding Your Fabric Palettes
by Jan T Urquhart Baillie
Many times people ask me if they can get more fabrics to download to
their version of Electric Quilt. If you have EQ5 or 6, the answer is yes,
and it’s easy – help is at hand as always.
The default fabrcis that come with the
standard installation of EQ6 are quite
extensive, but fabric manufacturers are
continually releasing new fabric lines
and you would like to have access to
these as well, wouldn’t you?
How to do this?
Open a project – new or existing – and
go to Help.
Scroll down the left hand pane until
you find “Contacting Us”.
When you click on this you will get
another menu. Select Website.
The link is now ready for you in the
right hand pane, (circled). When you
choose the link, you are immediately at
the EQ website, right there inside EQ!
into that in more detail on the next page
(see number 2 circled above).
In the help file window, point 6
explains what to do next time you want
to download more fabrics.
either as a Project or as a Library
(circled).
This lets you choose the right
download for your server speed.
For both slow and fast speeds,
the next window gives you six well-explained steps on how to download
the fabrics. Instructions are given for
both EQ5 and EQ6.
Step 1
Make a new folder in My Documents
called ‘Monthly Fabrics’, then points 2
and 3 on the website. (See number 1
circled above, right).
Next, choose Download free fabric
(circled, below).
You will now see the page where
you can download the current fabrics,
How do I find the fabrics?
In the picture above, if you scroll down
inside your help file where you went
looking at the beginning of the tutorial,
youíll see the picture below.
Step 3
Once you read that section, find the
files you want to download. The screen
looks like the next picture. (Opposite
top, left).
Choose the ones you want to
download, and the file(s) will download
Step 2
Whether you have EQ5 or EQ6, point 5
shows what to do in each case. I’ll go
